Wednesday Dec 30, 2009

three khans

Director Sanjay Chhel could pull off a coup of sorts if all the three Khans of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan agree to star in his forthcoming film. The three will be approached for a cameo in the film. Whatever it may be, getting all the three Khans in a single movie is something that no one has been able to achieve so far. The director is also looking to sign up other top heroes of Bollywood to play cameo roles in this flick.

Meanwhile, the production house that is producing this venture, Percept, has decided to reduce the film’s budget by 30 per cent due to recession.

Priyadarshan Plans To Make A Film On AIDS With Aamir Khan

Saturday Dec 5, 2009

Aamir Khan14

After the warm reception to his just released “De Dana Dan”, Priyadarshan plans to make a film on AIDS with Aamir Khan in a way that’s palatable to the public.

“And why not? Films are meant to generate a mass reaction. No point in making a film with one of the biggest stars of the country which only a handful of people want to watch,” Priyadarshan told IANS.

He wants to make films for the masses. Even if it’s about the construction mafia “Khatta Meetha” with Akshay Kumar and Trisha or the stigma attached to inter-caste marriages in a film with Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu and Akshaye Khanna, he will speak in the language of the common man.

“De Dana Dan” is a big hit even in Pakistan where it’s running to packed houses in a theatre with shows from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Priyan — as Priyadarshan is popularly known — says the romantic rain song with Akshay and Katrina which had been edited for reasons of length will be restored in the prints from Saturday.

“I’ve never made films for critics. I make my films, even my so-called artistic ones like ‘Kala Pani’ and ‘Kanchivaram’, for a mass audience. Today commercial success is more important for the survival of our film industry than ever before.

“Don’t critics want films to do well? Don’t they want the industry to make money so the movie business can get back on its feet? If audiences want to watch happy films who is going to stop them?”

Priyan says he’ll continue to make the films that connect with the audience.

“I’m a film buff. I understand world cinema. I know about Fellini, Ray and Godard. And Satyajit Ray is one of my favourite directors. But I also understand about the film market. We can’t make the films that audiences don’t come to see.”

Some of his hit movies include “Hera Pheri” (2000), “Garam Masala” (2005), “Bhagam Bhag” (2006) and “Bhool Bhulaiyya” (2007).

Aamir Khan13

Ahead of the release of his new film "3 Idiots", Bollywood actor Aamir Khan Thursday drew a distinction between the term "idiots" and "stupid", saying that "idiots are very normal persons" who at some point prove themselves in an
"unconventional way".

At an event in a city hotel to promote the first song of Rajkumar Hirani’s "3 idiots", Aamir said: "Idiots are thought to be very normal persons but at some point of time they prove themselves to be someone with extra calibre. They are not stupid, rather they come to limelight in an unconventional way."

Actor R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi were also present at the screening of the song "Jab life ho out of control, all is well".

“3 idiots" is a story of three engineering students – Sharman Joshi, Aamir Khan and R. Madhavan – and their experiences on the campus.

Kareena Kapoor and Boman Irani play important roles and Kajol makes a special appearance in the film. The campus shown in the film is of the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

Yes Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was nervous before his ramp debut for Salman Khan’s “Being Human” show at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week. He said he wanted to go back home.

“I was extremely nervous because I have never done it before. I am not used to doing all this. This is not my world. But I did it just for my friend Salman and to support the cause,” Aamir told reporters Tuesday after the show.

“When I was rehearsing, the show area was empty still I was nervous. I thought that when I’m nervous now, what will happen when I will walk the ramp in front of the audiences. And I thought I should go back home,” he added.

Before starting the walk, the actor stood on the ramp for a second, looked around, smiled at everyone, took a deep breath and very shyly started walking maintaining eye-contact with the audience and acknowledging their cheers.

Despite his nervousness, he charmed everyone with his boyish looks and cute smile.

Aamir :SRK Thinks He Is Too smart

Wednesday Sep 16, 2009

Aamir Khan11

The battle between the Bollywood Khans seems to be never-ending. Everyone thought that Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan had set their differences aside, since they got together for the multiplex issue. But this seems to be far from true.

Aamir Khan, who just returned from France, was asked by a journalist if he too was questioned by the authorities for being a Khan. Aamir plainly said that such checks were common and that the SRK issue was being blown out of proportion.

He also added that people don’t check him because he is an idiot (referring to his film, Three Idiots) while SRK lands into trouble because he is intelligent (meaning that it was simply a publicity stunt). Salman too has earlier said that SRK’s airport check was merely for publicity.

Aamir Khan:‘3 Idiots’ Will Be Releasing On Christmas

Tuesday Sep 1, 2009

Aamir Khan10

Aamir Khan, who is spending time with wife Kiran Rao after her miscarriage last month, says his much-awaited “3 Idiots” will hit the screens in December.

“Vinod (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and Raju (Raj Kumar Hirani) tell me that the post production on ‘3 Idiots’ is progressing well – so by the time I get back, the cut (final product) will be ready. Which means I can confirm to all those of you who have been repeatedly asking… yes, ‘3 Idiots’ will be releasing on Christmas this year. I’ll see the cut once I get back,” he wrote on his blog www.aamirkhan.com/blog/.

He didn’t reveal his whereabouts, but informed: “Kiran and I are away from home, in one very quiet spot, just lying in and resting. Reading, going for walks, watching films.”

The actor says he is utilising his time to catch up on a few films and books – something that he hasn’t been able to do thanks to his chock-a-block schedules.

“There are so many films to see, and books to read. One life time is not enough. Books, I read, but films I never get down to seeing.

“Strange, since, I love cinema so much. It’s not as if I don’t enjoying watching films. I really do, in fact when I watch a film I forget to blink and my eyes start hurting after a while. But for someone who is so steeped in films I have watched pathetically few films in all these years,” he said.

Piyush Jha Wants Aamir Khan For His Next Film!

Wednesday Aug 26, 2009

Aamir Khan9

Piyush Jha whose film on Kashmiri militancy Sikandar has just opened to substantial critical acclaim is all set to start his next film.

Entitled Door (distant) Piyush’s next project will take a deep penetrating look at the divide between the haves and the have-nots.

Aamir Khan is the director’s first choice for the protagonist’s part. “It’s the role of a man of the masses. I can only see Aamir in the role,” says Piyush.

The Sikandar experience has made the director realize the importance of A-listers stars in the cast. “I now understand the star hierarchy. This is just what my next film has to say. Before bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots, we need to understand that chasm.”

Says the director, “In the cities you see this huge disparity between the way the various classes of people live. But move away from the city and go into the non-metropolitan and semi-rural areas…the disparity between how the upper crust and the rest lived is even more glaring. That’s what Door is about.”

Piyush is baffled by some of the reviews for Sikandar. “Some have even commented on how spick and span Madhavan playing an army man looks. Array, I come from an army family. My father Hiralal Jha retired as a major in the army. I know how he lived and how much cleanliness and orderliness meant to him. His shoes were polished for an hour every morning and his uniform had to be creaseless.

”Going by the critical response to his film Piyush is unsure about what is required of him. “Should I make the film that critics want from me? Should I make what I think the audience would like? Or should I just do what comes naturally to me? I think I’ll just go by my instincts.”

Tuesday Aug 4, 2009

Aamir Khan Kuna Kapoor

Kunal Kapoor has been preparing hard for his role in Anurag Kashyap’s next Doga, which is based on comic book. Anurag has told Kunal to build his physique 50 times more than what he is currently and he has to do it in a limited time. Kunal had already been training himself, but since it was not possible within a limited time, it seems he has approached his Rang De Basanti co-star Aamir Khan to help him out.

Sources inform that, “Aamir Khan developed his physique for Ghajini in a quick time and it has impressed Kunal so much so that he has been taking special tips from him for the role. He is also seen working out at Aamir’s personal gym. Kunal’s character is supposed to look very strong physically since he is playing a desi superhero kind of character. The film also requires him to learn certain skills; one such is ‘Paco’ also known as free running. Paco helps in building stamina and agility.”

Doga is the alter-ego of an orphan Suraj, whom Daku Halkan Singh finds in a garbage dump as an infant. He is brought up by Daku Halkan Singh, but treated like a dog. While in Halkan’s care, Suraj witnesses endless horrors that ultimately led to his becoming Doga. To seek revenge, Suraj becomes Doga, and wears a dog mask to hide his identity. He is also considered to be the second most popular character created by Raj comics due to his huge fan following after Nagraj.
Kapoor loves to experiment onscreen and this role he says, is one of the most exciting and exhilarating experiences he has encountered.
