Amitabh Bachchan has learnt to live with controversies. But India’s biggest star admits they sometimes get under his skin — and when that happens he says he takes care not to show his irritation, particularly before the media.
"For celebrities, when you create a controversy, it happens and even when you don’t create one, it still happens. Like if I sneeze, it can cause a controversy; if I don’t, then also it causes one," Bachchan told IANS in an exclusive interview.
"We (celebrities) have to live with that (controversies). I have accepted that controversies are bound to happen with me. I do get angry about it at times but we don’t let it show – not in front of the media at least," added the 66-year-old thespian who will soon be seen as host of the third season of the reality show "Bigg Boss" that features a bunch of celebrities locked into a house.
The subject of many controversies, big and small, Bachchan seems to often vent his ire in his blog, which he labels a "revelation".
The blog – www.bigb.bigadda.com – has become almost an obsession, says the star candidly.
"It (my blog) has been a great revelation. It’s a medium where I can talk to myself. It has now become almost like an obsession and it’s not so much because I want to express myself but the fact that I better express myself now there are hundreds of people who wait to read what I’m going to do, what I am thinking and then they comment on it," he said.
He added that he would be going back to update his blog as soon as the interviews with the media were over.
Bachchan, whose forthcoming projects include Sujoy Ghosh’s "Aladin", R. Balakrishna’s eagerly-awaited role-reversal drama "Paa" and Leena Yadav’s "Teen Patti", was in the capital for the launch of "Bigg Boss" that goes on the air Sunday.
"I had been getting offers from various channels. We had many advance talks with some of them but, for some reason, either I didn’t like it or they couldn’t conceptualise something for me. Then ‘Bigg Boss’ came along, so I said ‘yes’," said TV’s newest "pop philosopher".
Ask him how this whole concept of being a "pop philosopher" emerged, the actor said: "This word has been created by the channel and I am partially to blame for it. When we were in talks for the show, I kept asking Colors officials about what it is that may be different from what you have been doing.
"It intrigued me for very long as to why a human being behaves as he does, what’s it that instigates him to behave in a certain manner? I thought it would be interesting to know all that and it may interest the people who will watch the show."
Though Bachchan will be seen twice a week as the show host, he is not open to the idea of being locked in the "Bigg Boss" house.
"I would hate to be in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. How can you be cut off for three months without any newspapers and mobiles? With no knowledge of what time it is since there are no clocks?" he said in awe.
Apart from Big B hosting the show, the channel has also made changes in the selection format. This time, viewers were given a chance to vote for those whom they want to see in the "Bigg Boss" house.
Asked who he would personally like to see on the show and pat he responded: "Nobody. I don’t want anybody to go in there."

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan will return to the small screen after a gap of four years to host the third season of Colors’ popular reality show “Bigg Boss”, a well-placed source confirmed Friday.
” ‘Bigg Boss’ is set to get bigger. And Amitabh Bachchan is going to take over as host from Shilpa Shetty, who hosted it last season,” the source told IANS.
The Indian version of the popular British reality show “Big Brother”, “Bigg Boss” will have celebrity contestants locked into a house under the surveillance of multiple cameras for a period of three months without any contact with the outside world.
Periodic eliminations will take place based on voting by housemates and the audiences.
The show is expected to go on air around December.
Big B, who had a super hit stint as the host of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” for two seasons, will be seen on the show on the days of the elimination.
The inaugural “Bigg Boss” show in 2006 had Arshad Warsi as the host.

Amitabh Bachchan had a brief stint in politics as an MP two decades ago, but after leaving politics never returned back to it ‘coz he is “inadequate for the job”.
Big B wrote on his blog, “Many ask me why I joined politics and then why I left it. I joined it because I was asked to and left because I was inadequate for the job.”
“Politics is a complicated world – a world where if you are unable to play the game, you would remain a novice and a stranger eternally. I admire those who have remained in it for long years. Admire the guile with which they steer their boats everyday, every minute. The ease with which they make associations and break them, reject foes and months later embrace them as dearest friends. It is a tough job.
“A job that I would never be able to do. I would never recommend it to anyone. But I do know that those that pursue this line, do so with utmost dedication and passion. Their dedication and passion is admirable.”
Big B is currently in Singapore by the side of his dear friend Amar Singh who is underwent a kidney transplant recently.

A tired and exhausted Amitabh Bachchan has finally started enjoying a good and compulsory vacation. His friend Amar Singh’s poor health has impelled Mr Bachchan to take a past due break from his occupation. From what it looks like, he is in no frame of mind to return to labour in a scurry either.
Mr Bachchan is very clear about one thing he is in Singapore to be with his friend, not for work purposes.
One producer that is in anticipation of Mr Bachchan is Pritish Nandy. Amitabh is in his film ‘Actor’. The king of bollywood is going to play the role of what he is simply, an actor. It is the first project he will be going to do, once he returns from Singapore.
Pritish Nandy had visited Amar Singh and Mr Bachchan in Singapore. He was pleasurably astonished by how peaceful Mr Bachchan was. Nandy told happily,
"Amar Singh has recuperated as much he could, considering the seriousness of his illness. But, Mr Bachchan seems in no mood to leave his friend’s side right away. It’s almost like he has withdrawn into a cocoon for a while. And, we at Pritish Nandy Communications have no problem waiting for Mr Bachchan. It’s wonderful to see him so relaxed and stress-free after years."
No one is sure at the second how extensive the retreat will last. According, to his loved ones, Mr Bachchan is absolutely enjoying his time off. He has definitely earned himself this depart from work.

Imagine being stranded in heavy rain and then getting a lift from Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
That’s what happened to a few women in Mumbai recently.
The Big B did his bit by giving a lift to a few women in his car to help them escape the Mumbai rains that have affected life in India’s financial capital.
The road outside Amitabh’s house, Prateeksha, was waist deep in water and entered his reception area.
When the actor decided to take a ride in his SUV (sports utility vehicle) to his second home, Jalsa, in Juhu, he found the women wading through the waterlogged street.
"I opened the door, well just about, to assist a few young ladies in distress, who were beginning to lose their composure, and gave them a ride towards Jalsa," Amitabh posted in a recent entry on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com .
At his Jalsa home, water leaked through into the bedrooms causing more distress to the actor.
"At Jalsa, the water in the bedrooms leaked through despite the tarpaulin protection monsoon covers. I told them (referring to his workers) to put towels, swabs, water resistant solutions, anything," he wrote.
The situation became so chaotic that the actor had to ask his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law, Aishwariya, who are in Singapore along with politician Amar Singh, to stay there for a while.

Ram Gopal Verma has now finally decided to shelve his sequel Sarkar 3. Well, there are many sides of why it has been decided so. RGV was very keen and all set to go ahead with the movie, but things did not work out.
As per an insider, “Ramu was not getting the right script and the star cast too. Also, his rapport with Bachchans has gone a bit sour.”
“Though they have done movies together, but we don’t have an exact idea of what is currently going on between them. RGV was in tension for, and how, to go ahead with Sarkar 3. He could not find any option, so thought that it’s better to drop the idea,” informs our little birdie.
It was also reported that Ramu was planning to rope in Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for the same.
Well now that the project is gathering dust on a shelf, we can safely put all speculations to rest.

This summer, if you come across some fully tonsured old man, which also includes his eyebrows, just take a closer look because it could be none other than Amitabh Bachchan himself who has donned this unique look for his forthcoming film ‘Pa’ directed by R. Balakrishnan aka Balki. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan.
The storyline of the film has been guarded secretly but if rumors are to be believed it deals with the story of a child who ages much faster than any normal child would do. The surprise element of the film lies in the fact that Amitabh Bachchan will be playing Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan’s son in the film.
Recently, the team carried out the shoot of the film in locations of Delhi, whereby, a team of highly qualified make up experts worked on Big B’s look for a whopping 6 hours at a stretch and the results were more than satisfactory when Big B’s fans failed to recognize him in the getup of the bald old man.
It so happened that when some locals got to know that Amitabh Bachchan was shooting there, a huge crowd accumulated but after a long wait they returned frustrated and dejected cursing the unit for spreading false rumors.
Balki confirmed the news saying, “Yes, it’s true. Fans of Amitabh came rushing when they heard he was shooting in a school nearby. The fans stayed for two hours, loitered, went around him and went away complaining that there was no Amitabh. They just couldn’t recognize him.”
