Sunil Shetty is taking a U-turn and returning to where he started in Bollywood – action.

The macho actor, who is taking a sabbatical from producing movies after facing losses, is pumping his muscles to crush some bones on the big screen for a resurrection.

"There are plans to come back to action. I am working hard on my body and fitness for that. I will do something that is extra extraordinary. It will be a patriotic film," Anna, as he is fondly called, told IANS in an interview.

"The script is ready and I am playing a central character in the film. The action in it will be unbelievable. Hopefully, it will work," added the 49-year-old, who drifted to comedy with movies like "Hera Pheri" and "Hulchul" for a new innings.

Suniel Shetty : Only Rahul Gandhi Can Rescue Hockey

Thursday Feb 25, 2010

Bollywood star Suniel Shetty feels Congress MP Rahul Gandhi should step in to save the sport from the “doldrums”.

“Only Rahul Gandhi with his initiative and youth power can rescue hockey from the doldrums. Otherwise the game is doomed,” Suniel told IANS.

Suniel intends to request Rahul Gandhi to bring a sense of direction to the game.

The fiasco on Saturday at the sports event hosted in Chandigarh by the AMR Sports Foundation, where the national hockey players apparently asked for Rs.500 million at the eleventh hour to play at the event, has not left Suniel disillusioned or discouraged.

“See, what happened in Chandirgarh was really sad. I don’t know what happened between the event’s organisers and our boys from the national hockey team. If they really asked for the money, then they shouldn’t have.

“But think of it from their point of view. Hockey players in our country are still so underpaid. They’re under so much pressure from their family to give up hockey and do something more paying. How long can our players withstand the financial press

Sunil Shetty Bags The Best Actor Award At SAIFF

Monday Nov 9, 2009

Red Alert

Sunil Shetty is a happy man these days. For his performance in the upcoming Red Alert, he has bagged the Best Actor award at the South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF), New York.

An ecstatic Sunil says, "It is a fabulous feeling. In all the reviews of my films till date, a majority have called me ‘wooden’ or said ‘gives a routine performance’. To win an award at a recognized film festival like the SAIFF in New York is a big high as an actor and makes me want to work harder and better."
Sunil goes on to add, "The film is on a Naxal setting and right now, is the right time for the film to come out."
His performance was appreciated by the Jury and the audiences’ too. The theme of the movie has a universal appeal. As everybody on planet earth is affected by Terrorism, External or Internal…

The film’s director Ananth Mahadevan says, "I am happy especially for Sunil because his performance is being appreciated at a global level. When I took this film to him, he had told me in his humble way, not to make the film with him in a solo lead. But I was sure he could pull off the character of Narasimha and he did."

Suniel Shetty Has Claimed That His Costumes Were Stolen In South Africa

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has claimed that costumes for a film he is currently shooting in Durban were stolen and hinted that it could be an organised crime in connivance with airport luggage handlers — an allegation that has perturbed the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA).

Shetty told that although it was the second time he had been robbed in South Africa, he remained unruffled and would return because he loved the country so much.
But he also told the weekly: "I think this happens because (airport luggage handlers) can see what`s in the luggage. The locks, I believe were clipped open within 10 minutes, which means it is organised."
This statement, especially the insinuation of organised crime, has upset airport authorities, who have launched concerted efforts to wipe out incidents of luggage being tampered with ahead of the expected influx of tourists for the FIFA World Cup to be hosted across South Africa next year.
ACSA staff said the Bollywood star would have to substantiate his allegation, especially since he should have reported it to the airline and police at the airport.
"If he had reported it to the airline, they would have already been asking questions," ACSA spokesman Colin Naidoo told the weekly, adding that luggage was scanned by an automatic machine and was not seen by people before moving through a conveyor belt.
Shetty also claimed that he had been robbed of $60,000 during a visit to Durban about 12 years ago, but did not give more details.
The actor, however, added that the incidents would not stop him coming back to South Africa as he had fallen in love with the country since he first came here.
"This probably happens to tourists anywhere and everywhere in the world. We learn to live with it now, because your love for (South Africa) is more than what you feel for what you lost."
With his costumes, cameras and belts stolen, Shetty had to do some hurried shopping in Durban with the designer for the film "No Problem" that he is shooting in the city with Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. Sushmita Sen has already left after shooting her scenes for the film.
Shetty said he also planned to attend the FIFA World Cup next year with his son and nephews.

Sunil Shetty To Endorse Ford Endeavor

Friday Feb 27, 2009

Sunil Shetty is not a very popular actor these days but he is still lucky. The actor just got a big deal by Ford India to endorse their latest SUV Ford Endeavor.

A source reveals, “The company rolled out its advertisement campaign on the 23rd of Jan, which features the actor. Suneil has always had a passion for cars and hence being appointed as the brand ambassador for Ford India’s SUV is a dream come true for him.

Apparently the car makers have roped in Suneil as the brand ambassador for Ford Endeavour as he truly embodies all the brand attributes such as style, power, success, performance and adventure.”

Well.. I thought Akshay Kumar embodied the spirit of the car better… What do you think?
