Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is all set to revive the beauty of Sahibaan, who was apparently so beautiful that nine guarding angels of spheres met with their death when they set their eyes on her beauty.

And Rakeysh Sahibaan is none other than his Dilli6 actress Sonam Kapoor.

    A source says, “Rakeysh would address Sonam as ‘Bittu’, the character she played in Delhi-6. Then suddenly one day he started calling Sonam ‘Sahibaan’. At first Sonam was baffled by this new name from Rakeysh who would pamper her to no end. But as the historical perspective and the literary antecedents of the character began to seep in, Sonam grew excited about the project and began to pester Rakeysh about the project.”

    Rakeysh also confirmed the news about Sahibaan,”But, I still have to get down to writing it.”

While who will be enacting the role of Sahibaan’s lover Mirza is still unknown.

Actor Aamir Khan and the scintillating Rekha were on Saturday bestowed with the prestigious ‘Raj Kapoor Pratibha Gaurav and memorial award’ at the ‘Raj Kapoor Memorial Award for Special Contribution’.

The award has been instituted in memory of legendry showman Raj Kapoor.
Chief Minister Ashok Chavan presented the Raj Kapoor Pratibha Gaurav and Memorial awards to Rekha and Aamir Khan respectively.
Rekha and Aamir Khan expressed their gratitude to Maharashtra for the fame they achieved in the state describing it their ‘Karmabhumi’.
The award presented by the state government comprises of Rs 2 lakh cash, a citation and a memento each. The duo was honoured at the Maharashtra State Awards ceremony held at the Balewadi stadium in the city on May 30.
Noted marathi lyricist Jagdish Khebudkar was another recipient at the function.
Khebudkar, who has written songs for hundreds of hit Marathi films over five decades, was felicitated with the V Shantaram award.
Interestingly, it is only from this year that the selection committee of the state ministry for cultural affairs has decided to present the ‘Raj Kapoor Award’ to two artistes. While one award is to be presented to a veteran artiste, the other is to be given to a younger artiste who has made a mark in films.
A cultural programme preceded the glittering award function held at sports city at Balewadi, about 20 km from here.

Few days back the state cultural department had announced the "Raj Kapoor Jeevan Gaurav award" (Lifetime Achievement) to Rekha for her contribution to Hindi cinema.

The state government officials, however, were in for a surprise when Rekha told them that she was not inclined to accept the award as it went against her own concept of work and self-image.

The Maharashtra cultural affairs minister Harshwardhan Patil who spoke to media persons, said Rekha felt that she could not accept a Lifetime award because she was still pursuing an active film career, which has not ended.

To honour her sentiments, the government has now amended the title of the award to "Raj Kapoor Pratiba Gaurav", putting an accent on the creative aspect of the artiste.Now, the re-invented award will be presented to the veteran actress on the occasion of 46th Maharashtra state film award distribution ceremony slated for May 30 in the city. The other awardees include Bollywood star Aamir Khan who too will be present at the felicitation.

Rekha’s vanity is legendary, but this takes the cake. The Government of Maharashtra has changed the title of one of its awards because the diva was cautious of being branded as a has-been. Thus, while the Government of Maharashtra in all earnestness wished to honour the lady with a lifetime achievement award – monikered the Raj Kapoor Smriti Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar initially – it has had to re-title the escutcheon with a less older sounding Pratibha Gaurav Puraskar.

Rekha, it seems, developed cold feet after reports started pouring out into the media about this lifetime achievement award. Says a source from the government, who did not wish to be named, "She called us and asked us to change the name of the award. She felt that a lifetime achievement award gives the illusion that all the work in one’s career has been done. ‘I still have a lot of unfinished work’ she said to us. We decided to change the name of the award."

The ceremony will be held in Pune on May 30, and will be graced by the Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and the Deputy Chief Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal.

The relatively younger Aamir Khan won the second award – the Raj Kapoor Smriti Vishesh Gaurav Puraskar. What the government also doesn’t know is that Aamir Khan and Rekha can’t stand each other’s guts (her nakhras cost his father lakhs of rupees when making Locket in the late ‘80s; it is something Aamir, who is known to nurse grudges, has never forgiven her for). But maybe he’ll overlook old grudges now that a lifetime has passed since. Wait a minute…

What the government also doesn’t know is that Aamir Khan and Rekha can’t stand each other’s guts.

Big B and Rekha were a hot item back in the days of Silsilay and remain to do so as the paparazzi at award functions eagerly wait for a golden moment of encounter between them.

At 54th Idea Filmfare Awards Rekha greeted Shahrukh with a hug and the actor bowed, she then moved on to Abhishek and kissed him on the cheek, the environment got hotter and hotter as the media was anxiously waiting for the big encounter.

Rekha then moved onto the beautiful Bachchan Bahu Aishwarya and greeted her, as soon as she moved towards the last seat of the row,there was Amitabh Bachchan who swiftly did a U-turn and went away ignoring Rekha.

Poor Rekha! It must have been a very embarrassing moment for her.

Since the “Battlestar Galactica” cast is scattering to the winds, we decided to talk to one of the most controversial figures of this past season, Tory Foster the Cylon, aka Rekha Sharma. We did a quick, or not so quick, Q&A about the season and the show a few weeks ago.

RekhaheadshotI watched video from the New York Comic-Con,  Was that your first experience with the kind of fervor that surrounds the show?

Yes.

And what was your reaction to that?

It was pretty mind-boggling. I had done one convention before that, which was in London. It was to a really small group of people and none of my stuff had really aired yet — the crowd just knew about the end of the third season — so people were pretty chill around me. They were like, ‘Wow, you’re cool.’  But this time I got so many strong reactions from people.

Strong good, strong bad … ?

A bit of both. … The convention I did in London was very small and intimate. I found in a way that the energy was really contagious. I felt that there was a lot of real positivity in the room. Everybody just loves the show and so it was really fun and exciting in that way. But then there’s the weirdness of people sort of freaking out over you and you’re like ‘Hey, I’m just a chick,’ you know?

I’ve done a bunch of TV and smaller roles in film. I do come from theater. I didn’t spend a lot of time there cause once I started in television I just kind of stayed there. I’m actually dying to do a play now — I’ll probably do one this year. I feel like what we do as actors prepares you for the work, but it doesn’t prepare you for having your mug on television and being in front of gazillions of people. … I never did a theater as big as the crowd we had at [the New York] Comic-Con. I never had an audience that big

The famous song Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai sang by Waheeda Rehman along with Dev Anand in the 60s classic Guide. Now, after 40 years that song went on to become a rage, Shatrughan Sinha and Rekha will come together in a movie titled “Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai” and the movie was hit the floors in the start of July.

The movie, shooting of which is currently on in Karjat, also stars Hrishita Bhatt and Satish Shah and is being co produced by popular Television star Kamia Malhotra along with Shatrughan’s better half, Poonam Sinha. The movie is directed by Ramesh Talwar who realier directed the Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Rishi Kapoor love triangle “Sahibaan” in the 90s.

While Shatrughan Sinha would be playing a princely character, the timeless evergreen beauty Rekha would be seen in a dynamic role in her latest flick. Now get ready to see some legendary stars in again their past blast with bang.
