Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty says that her wedding date has been finalized, but she will announce it only when her sister Shamita is by her side.
“I know everyone’s eager to know about the wedding date. All I can say is yes it’s been finalised and I will make an official announcement as soon as I know when Shamita’s coming out,” Shilpa, who got engaged to London-based Raj Kundra Saturday after a courtship of about two years, posted on her blog.
Shamita is currently participating in the Colors’ reality show “Bigg Boss 3?. She is locked in the house with 10 more inmates and has no connection with the world outside.
Shilpa says she missed her sister.
“It’s been a time of both joy and sorrow for me. The joy is obvious because Raj and I feel happy to take our relationship to the next level, but as most of you know my sister Shamita is still in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house and could not attend. She doesn’t even know.
“The date was decided a week ago and we all came to the consensus that we should go ahead because another good mahurat (auspicious time) was a long way off. And considering Raj’s parents and relatives were down from London for a week, so it seemed convenient,” she wrote.
“I wanted to have Shamita there during this special moment, but I had to be considerate towards Raj’s family too. So for all those who wanted to know why I went ahead without Shamita, it was a difficult decision but this is the answer.”
Shilpa admits that when her sister comes out of “Bigg Boss” house, the news of the engagement will shock her.

“Shane Warne’s a fantastic cricketer and an even better captain, but I adore Yusuf Pathan and I’m fond of M S Dhoni,” said ShamitaShetty, thereby dashing all hopes the legendary Australian spin wizard and ladies man might have had of winning the sultry Bollywood actress in South Africa.
Shamita, as you might have seen on television, has accompanied elder sister Shilpa and her beau Raj Kundra — owners of Team Rajasthan, to South Africa for the IPL. From where reports came faster than sixes of Warne showing more than a healthy interest in the boss woman’s kid sis.
Some stories had the two cosying up at a party that Shilpa had thrown after a victorious match. Warne, who is notorious for his roving eye, was naturally unavailable for comment. But Shamita was not amused by the rumours.
“I don’t know where the press is getting this from but it really needs to get the facts right. Honestly, it’s the funniest bit of news I’ve heard in a long time,” said Shamita who doesn’t interact with the team and has barely met Warne thrice.
The story goes that Warne, whose wife Simone Callahan reportedly left him as a result of his womanising, had first hit on Shilpa herself. But since the elder sister was already betrothed to Raj Kundra, the captain of her team turned his attention to younger sister Shamita. Funnily, when BT was doing a Valentine Day’s story with the couple earlier this year, Raj had jokingly remarked, “I’d better propose to Shilpa before the T20 matches or else Shane Warne might try his luck!”
His failure with the Shetty girls has not done anything to spoil Shane Warne’s reputation as a world class cricketer in Shamita’s eyes. The twinkling-eyed Aussie still remains her “fave” player. But she adores Pathan. “Have you seen him get ready for a six? He’s got an amazing style,” she said. And then there’s also Dhoni, who is from the Chennai team, but still another favourite of the sultry actress. “I’m having fun,” she said, “from a non-cricketing fan, I’ve turned into a cricket enthusiast overnight.” Warne notwithstanding.

Shamita Shetty, currently in South Africa with her sister Shilpa for the IPL cricket tournament, has had her hotel room ransacked by a troop of baboons.
“It’s been a great weekend,”said Shilpa, “Shamita loved every bit of it until she went to her room and discovered her room had been ransacked.
By the Baboons… apparently they knew where the mini bar was and we were warned when we checked in to keep all doors locked when we leave the room.”
Shamita is looking forward to the release of her next film, the ghostly Kollywood thriller Naan Aval Adhu, which will star R Madhavan, fresh from his success in 13b and also Sada. Originally a remake of the Hindi movie Darling, the script has migrated away from its original premise.
It’s been a long time since we saw Shamita in a decent Bollywood movie – when can we expect to see her again? “I wish I could sit here and predict my future and tell you when I am coming and in which film but frankly speaking I don’t have anything right now in my hands – but I am waiting for a nice and exciting script!”
