Doing just intense roles can get quite boring, believes Ajay Devgn who is happy to have worn a different hat in the out and out comedy “All The Best” even as he is on home ground in “London Dreams”.
“It’s a great feeling that at this stage of my career I am being seen in movies as diverse as ‘London Dreams’ and ‘All The Best’. At one point of time, I was doing only intense roles,” Ajay, 40, who won a National Award for “Zakhm” (1998), told IANS.
“But, believe me, if I had continued doing that till date with every film, I would have been really bored and fed up by now.”
Ajay has been seen in quite a few films that required him to showcase his intense side, among them “Halla Bol”, “Omkara”, “Apaharan”, “Gangaajal”, “Deewangee”, “Company” and “Takshak”.
His “London Dreams” co-star Asin has said it is Ajay’s “intensity quotient” that strikes one most as an actor. She also said when it comes to dramatic scenes, he just “eats up the screen”.
But Ajay says humbly, “I don’t really know if I eat up the screen or do anything like that in my dramatic scenes. Yes, intensity has been my forte and I take her views as a compliment. But, as I said, I am loving this phase of my career where I am able to work on diverse films.”
In the pipeline are films like “Rajneeti”, “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai”, Priyadarshan’s next film, “Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge”, “Toonpur Ka Superhero” and a sequel to “Golmaal” or “All The Best”. Clearly, the man is enjoying his status as an actor who can work in diverse genres.

Actor-producer Ajay Devgan, who promises an entertaining Diwali package with his home production “All The Best – Fun Begins”, says a sequel to the laugh riot is not yet on the cards and that a decision would be taken only after its release Friday.
“That (the sequel) depends upon the release…on how the audiences take it and how big a hit it proves to be. Nothing has been decided yet, we’ll think about it only after it is out. Though right now, it’s just ‘Golmaal 3? that is for sure,” Ajay told IANS in an interview here.
The actor says “All The Best” would be funnier than his previous comic hits “Golmaal” (2006) and “Golmaal Returns” (2008).
” ‘All The Best’ is a laugh riot. It falls in the same genre as ‘Golmaal’ but is a completely different script made on a larger scale and it’s funnier than ‘Golmaal’… The film will work…I am sure people will like it too,” he said.
Throwing light on his character, the 40-year-old actor said: “I play a kind of conman who thinks he is very smart and intelligent and can handle a lot of things but actually he is a fool. Every time he comes up with an idea, he lands everybody else in trouble also.”

There is a strong buzz going around in the industry circles that Ajay Devgan, who wants to release All The Best, is planning to shell out Rs 50 lakhs if he wants his film to hit the theatres on October 16, the same day as Aladin, Blue and Main aur Mrs Khanna. Even a few tabloids have reported this today. However, this decision has not gone down well with Sanjay Dutt who stars along with Ajay in the comic caper All The Best directed by Rohit Shetty.
Reveals our source, “Sanjay Dutt already has two major releases Blue and Aladin this year lined up on the same date, October 16th during Diwali. Now he is in no mood to have a third release on the same day too. He is very upset with Ajay Devgan and is discouraging him from releasing the movie on Diwali.”
Anthony D’Souza’s Blue will see Sanjay Dutt in an action role where as in Aladin he will be seen as the bad guy called Ringmaster. Both the scheduled films are big budget starrers and Sanjay Dutt does not want to take any chances with them. He has been banking on these films for quite some time now, especially after a hit-less two years.

Its not news that Anees Bazmis film titled Benaam (now called Naam starring Ajay Devgan, Sameera Reddy and Bhumika Chawla) has been lying on the shelves for quite a few years. But little do people know that the movie has been shot completely and that producer, Dinesh Patel, has no money left for the post-production.
In the past, Patel had given a break to actor Ajay Devgan in Phool Aur Kaante. So, in order to help the producer who had once-upon-a-time given him a break, Ajay Devgan requested good friend, Anees Bazmi to come to Dineshs rescue, and now, after so many years after the movie has been shot, the film is being worked on once again. And for free!
Director Anees Bazmi confirmed the news saying, “Its true that the technicians including the dubbing, background music and the sound effects guys, assistants, Ajay Devgan and I are working without being paid money because the producer doesnt have money. Well get it later on when the movie releases.” Bazmi also reveals, “We got 12% of the remuneration that we were supposed to get when we agreed to work on this movie. But now, we just want the movie to be released because so much effort has been put into this.”
Patel says, “Yes, its true that Ajay, Aneez, all the artistes and the technicians are working for free for me. When the film releases, Ill pay them.”
People are making an extra effort to complete the film and for that, they are also getting rid of anything thats obviously negative.
Apparently, the films name has been changed from Benaam to Naam because, “Lots of people thought Benaam is a very negative title, so I suggested we remove the Be from the title. But I dont know what difference it makes because in spite of having a negative title, my movie No Entry still did well,” ends Bazmi.
