Arjun Rampal would be seen as a central protagonist in ‘We Are Family’, the official adaptation of ‘Stepmom’. Though the actor can’t help but sing praises of this Karan Johar production, he can’t forget the time when he almost skipped watching ‘Stepmom’. The story dates back to more than a decade when this tearjerker starring Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon had just released.
Yes, you are right, the one and only gorgeous, Oscar winning Australian actress Nicole Kidman will be in India for an ad shoot along with Bollywood guy Arjun Rampal. Guess what? all the other Bollywood biggies must be feeling jealous about Rampal
The ad film is for a carbonated water and ginger ale beverage company and Arjun will feature in the ad along with Nicole Kidman. The ad is being produced by director-producer Sir Ridley Scott of American Gangster and Body of Lies fame, while being directed by Shekhar Kapur.
The shot is of five days, which will start from today in Udaipur. It was Shekhar Kapur who recommended Rampal’s name to Ridley Scott’s production house. Rampal was once in demand supermodel of Mumbai, who used to do ramp walking, commercials and brand endorsements. But he gave up modeling nine years ago for his Bollywood career. Now the actor is happy with this assignment in between his Bollywood career.
While leaving to Udaipur, Rampal said, “Working with Nicole Kidman is going to be fun.”
He later added, “This is a dream team to work with. I really appreciate Nicole Kidman as an actor, she’s very very good and I’m excited to be working with her.”
But, there is doubt that whether Kidman knew that Rampal too is an actor. On that note Rampal said, “But she will once she is here.
Arjun Rampal is going through the best phase of his career. Not only is the hunk part of many successful films, but he is being recognized as a good actor too! He admits that his association and friendship with Shah Rukh Khan has had a very positive impact on his career and life. And that a small but effective role in Don–The Chase Begins Again was the turning point in his career. He followed it up with a superb performance (in a negative role) in Om Shanti Om. Then came the critically acclaimed, The Last Lear, where Arjun stood up against the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Preity Zinta. And of course, the icing on the cake was the hugely successful Rock On!! through which Arjun has acquired a stamp of credibility.
Farhan Akhtar, his co–star in Rock On!! and the director of Don had a very interesting point to make. Farhan said that Arjun is presently in a similar position where Saif was after Dil Chahta Hai. Saif, who, like Arjun, worked in some poor projects initially, but made the right choices after Dil Chahta Hai and cemented his position in the industry. Farhan hopes that Arjun too will do the same. He added that he wished to see Arjun in different types of roles.
