Barbara Mori Surprised By Brouhaha Over Kiss
Posted by Admin | Under Barbara Mori Saturday May 23, 2009
Mexican actress Barbara Mori is surprised that a kiss between a hero and heroine is a big deal in Hindi films.
There was a time when romantic scenes in Hindi films had the hero and zheroine coming close to each other and just when their lips would be inches away from docking…cut…two roses gently meeting. Times have changed today, but the mentality hasn’t. Today, either co-stars don’t kiss; but if they do, it becomes a headline for tabloids. Barbara, who comes from a culture where kisses are as common as handshakes, is quite surprised by all the hype surrounding kisses in Hindi films.
“In most films they don’t kiss, they just come together but at the last moment it stops. I was always left wondering why they stopped,” Mori expressed her surprise while speaking to a news channel.
Incidentally, the actress has been making a lot of news in India over suggesting co-star Hrithik Roshan to kiss her on the lips in a crucial scene in Kites , while the original scene had just a peck on the cheek.
Hrithik, on his part, says he has developed genuine love and respect for Barbara after working with her in ‘Kites’.
“We have a fabulous working relationship. I have genuine love and respect for Barbara. She has become very close to our family. If it was not for her, we would have not been able to accomplish the kind of film we have,” said Hrithik
‘Kites’ is a turbulent, sensuous love story between an Indian salsa dancer and a Mexican girl. Kangana Ranaut adds a third angle to the love story.
Barbara Mori At A Loss Without Hrithik Roshan
Posted by Admin | Under Barbara Mori, Hrithik Roshan Thursday May 21, 2009Barbara Mori would have been at a loss during the shooting of Kites had Hrithik Roshan not been around.
On the sets of a movie that tells a love story beyond linguistic and cultural barriers, it was language that bonded Hrithik and Barbara more than anything. But how? You ask! She speaks Mexican Spanish and knows only tooti footi English. He knows English well, but is a greenhorn at Spanish. How could language possibly bind them?
Well, the answer lies with director Anurag Basu who speaks English so rapidly that during the shoots when he explained the scenes to Barbara in English she would not only fail to understand what he said, but would ask him to explain the scene again “in English”. Needless to say, Anurag gave up after some tries and Hrithik had to come to rescue.
The interesting thing is, Barbara understood Hrithik’s English clearly. So every time Anurag explained a scene to Barbara, she, having understood little, if not nothing, would turn to Hrithik for explanation. And he, like a well-bred gentleman gifted with eloquence, would explain the scene to Barbara.
Anurag Basu says instead of explaining the scene again and again to Barbara, he left the job to Hrithik.
And it goes without saying that this role as an interpreter really helped build a rapport between Hrithik and Barbara. Had it not been for him, the Mexican hottie would surely have been at a loss, trying to decipher Anurag’s English.
Barbara Mori Has A Tattoo In Hindi
Posted by Admin | Under Barbara Mori Tuesday Mar 17, 2009Barbara got inked from tattoo expert Sameer Patange. She and her brother together got a tattoo of a Hindi word that stands for sibling love. Patange reportedly did the tattoo on Barbara’s forearm.
Not just that, Patange also inked Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzanne Roshan . The couple got a tattoo of the six pointed star of David on their forearms. Why Hrithik and Suzanne chose the esoteric symbol of Judaism is a mystery, but reports say even Hrithik’s dad, Rakesh Roshan , has got a similar tattoo on his arm.
Speaking about tattoos in Hindi, we know Saif Ali Khan has got Kareena’s name inked on his arm, just like ace footballer David Beckham has his wife Victoria’s name tattooed in Devanagri on his forearm.
