Farhan Akhtar, we are given to believe, is one heck of a perfectionist. The director-turned-actor is currently shooting for his next film Karthik Calling Karthik.

And if reports are to be believed, Farhan Akhtar is taking his role very, very seriously.

Mumbai Mirror reports that the star has been obsessed with the Rubik’s Cube and has been carrying one with him wherever he goes!

Apparently the character he plays in the movie is a Cube fanatic.

So Farhan who supposedly loves to prepare for his role has been taking to solving the Rubik’s Cube earnestly.

Farhan Akhtar’s latest starrer Kartik Versus Kartik is turning out to be more fun than any of his previous starrers.

Admits Farhan, “My earlier films were somehow connected with the entertainment industry and therefore they had a direct pr indirect bearing on my life. But in Kartik Versus Kartik I’m totally out of character. Also, in all my film so far I play a troubled introvert. In Kartik I start off as an introvert and then become a totally flamboyant guy. It’s fun.”

The fun element spilt over on the sets of Kartik Versus Kartik on Sunday when Farhan’s co-star Deepika Padukone decided to end the controversy about how tall she is.

Says Farhan, “So far I presumed she was taller. I had even measured her height on my talk show Oye It’s Friday and I was okay with the fact that she looked taller than me. I’ve absolutely no problem being shorter than my heroine.”

On Sunday Deepika challenged the view. “She made me stand next to her. And to my surprise she turned out to be no taller. In fact maybe I’m a half-inch taller than her.Deepika says she isn’t as tall as she looks. It comes from having long legs I guess.”

Farhan admits he’s having a ball shooting for Kartik. “But given a chance I’d like to direct a film this year. Unfortunately Voice From The Sky didn’t work out.And I start Don 2 next year.”

While Farhan’s father Javed Akhtar scripted Farhan’s Don remake, the sequel is Farhan’s idea.“When I opted for an open ending in Don I wasn’t leaving room for a sequel. I just wanted to show that the protagonist is cleverer than everyone else. But now that ending comes in handy to carry the story forward into a sequel.”

Farhan confirms the film will star Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra. “But there’re lots of supporting parts that will change.

In the forthcoming episode of "Oye! It’s Friday", we will get to see a whole lot from Farhan Akhtar and his celebrity guest, Shilpa Shetty. How Farhan will miss the opportunity to ask Shilpa about the hot issue of her venturing into international cricket with beau Raj Kundra. Striking a joke on that matter, humorously he has gifted Shilpa an interesting book titled "How to Manage a Cricket Team without Creating Controversy", written by former Indian coach Greg Chappell.

"Both Farhan and Shilpa are very ‘bindaas’ (fun-loving and carefree) people. And with Shilpa having joined the IPL this year, Farhan made a little joke out of it by giving this book," a source from the unit told.

The actor sports a clean and cropped hairstyle which is very much resemblance to Abhishek’s look in ‘Raavan’.

After playing two thought provoking roles as wannabe singer and wannabe actor in ‘Rock On’ and ‘Luck By Chance’, Farhan Akhtar is all set to try his hand at comedy for the first time in ‘Kartik Calling Kartik’.
 
“Not that ‘Kartik…’ is a full-fledged comedy. It’s a thriller. But it has a lot of light funny moments, something that I missed out in my first two, actually three (the unreleased ‘The Fakir Of Venice’) starrers,” Farhan told us.
 
Strange, considering Farhan is known for his sense of humour in real life.
 
“I don’t know why I’ve been cast in such serious parts so far.”
 
Deepika Padukone plays the female lead in ‘Kartik Calling Kartik’ that also stars Shefali Shah and Boman Irani.
 
“We start shooting in April,” said Farhan, who also plans to cut a music album.
 
“But for that I need to take out a chunk of time and devote my full attention to it. Singing is not just a hobby. It never was. I need to pursue it seriously. And not only because of ‘Rock On!’. I can’t just have someone else composing the songs while I go in the studio and record.”
 
Farhan has just completed his innings as a chat-show anchor on ‘Oye! It’s Friday’. In the last episode, he entertained cricketer Sourav Ganguly and actress Kangana Ranaut as his guests.
 
“I don’t think I’ve had so much fun before. I’m a huge cricket addict and Sourav was a delight. And I’m amazed by how relaxed and natural Kangana is.”
