Time just flies. It seems just the other year that Meena made her debut as a child artiste. And now she is the elder woman of the industry. She is no longer the spunky and vivacious actress. Meena had quietly disappeared from both Tamil and Malayalam film scene amid speculation that she would be getting married.
In an industry, where heroines age faster than heroes, Meena’s problem is that she is not old enough to play mother roles. Yet, she is no spring chicken to prance around the trees. The irony is that the old heroes with whom she paired with not long ago (the likes of Chiru) are still going in for younger actresses even now. But Meena has managed to keep herself in circulation.
The maiden with beautiful eyes, for a change, did a game show on Jaya TV, which became immensely popular. Then she got an offer to act in a Tamil serial – something Meena had been resisting for long. But ultimately, she gave in to persuasion and agreed to do a serial titled ‘Lakshmi’. The serial has turned out to be a big hit with family audience across Tamil Nadu.
Meena has found time to act in a film too – in neighboring Kannada. She did a role as the heroine of “Autograph”.
The grapevine has it that she is going to pair with Malayalam megastar Mammootty in a yet-to-be-titled movie.
