The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Producers Council, Nadigar Sangam and FEFSI have demanded that the actors and actresses should not attend the Indian film festival being held at Sri Lanka where thousands of innocent Tamil people were brutally murdered. Stars like Rajni, Kamal, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharukh Khan, Abhishek Sheik and Aishwarya Rai have boycotted this function as well.
All the actors and actresses of the Tamil industry have boycotted this function totally. Because of this, the function turned out to be an utter flop. But Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh and Neil Nithin Mukesh attended this function in spite of the ban imposed. Actress Genelia also accompanied her lover Ritesh to this function. South Indian film industry has decided not to cooperate with these actors in future. Theatre owners have also decided not to screen their films at all.
Genelia who had acted in some Tamil films, hails from Mumbai. She was introduced by the director Shankar in his film Boys. After this, she was paired with Vijay in Sachin, with Jayam Ravi in Santhosh Subramaniapuram and with Bharath in Chennai Kadhal. Now she is being paired with Dhanush in the film Utthamaputhiran. The film may face problems due to her participation in the Sri Lankan event. It has been decided that she will not be approached for any Tamil films henceforth.
The Actors Association is getting ready to take action against Genelia now. FEFSI president, V C Guganathan, while speaking about the actors who participated in the Sri Lankan Film Festival said,” All the South Indian film organizations had requested the actors not to participate in this function. Almost all the actors have accepted this decision. We are also thankful to the big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal and Rajni for respecting our sentiments. However, some actors attended this function at the grave yard in spite of the ban. We have decided not to cooperate with these actors”

Just when it was becoming tiring to hear every actor say what great friends they were with their co-stars, Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh has come up with something entirely new – he says he is very “fond” of his co-star Lara Dutta.
“My camaraderie with Lara is excellent and I am extremely fond of her. I have worked with her before; so I share a certain rapport with her,” Riteish told IANS in an interview.
“Do Knot Disturb” is his third film with the former beauty queen after “Bardaasht” and “Masti”.
“As colleagues it is important to have on-screen chemistry and when you are doing comedy it is important to have the right timing and everything. Both of us understand that.
“It’s great that there are times when we got a scene and we didn’t need to rehearse because I know exactly what Lara is going to do and she knows exactly what I’m going to do,” added the actor who is also doing Sajid Khan’s “Housefull” with the actress.
“Do Knot Disturb” also stars Govinda and Sushmita Sen and is slated to hit screens Oct 2.
The 30-year-old actor, who has emerged as a comic star after doing a series of comedies like “Masti”, “Dhamaal”, “Heyy Baby” and “Kyaa Kool Hai Hum” among others, revealed that his dream of working with Govinda was realised when he was offered this film.
“I always wanted to work with Govinda and David Dhawan. I’m glad that both these people came together in a single film.”
So was he insecure or nervous about working with the king of comedy?

Ritesih Deshmukh has reasons to feel ‘nostalgic’ these days. The actor will be seen sporting a school bag in Eros International’s ‘Aladin’ directed by Sujoy Ghosh.Aladin is a contemporary look at the classic fairy tale, where Riteish plays the title character.
However, in Sujoy’s version, Aladin shares nothing other than his name with the protagonist of the famous fairy-tale. Here Aladin is a shy, young man who is constantly bullied by a certain gang of boys in his college.
Since Riteish plays a college student in the film, he was required to carry a bag. The actor suggested using a sling, since that is very popular with the youth today.
However, Director Sujoy insisted on Riteish carrying a typical school bag, as it would be a perfect fit with his reclusive character in the film.
Riteish immediately disagreed, but later decided to try it out on Sujoy’s persuasion. Art director Sabu Cyril gave him a worn-out brown leather bag to try.
After giving a few takes with the bag, he discovered, to his own surprise that the bag indeed added that ‘authentic’ touch to his character in the film and gladly agreed to carry it.
Says Riteish, “Sujoy is a brilliant director and knows exactly what he wants. He was very sure about his portrayal of Aladin and though I was initially hesitant, I realized that the bag completely matched Aladin’s personality.”
And how was the school-going experience? He laughs, “Carrying that typical ‘two-shoulder’ school bag initially felt weird, but it was fun too. It was like reliving my school days after all these years

After the success of Twenty20 cricket it’s now a shorter T-10 version or instant cricket that has become the new buzz word. Brand ambassador Riteish Deshmukh will now be endorsing the first-of-its-kind T-10 gully cricket. A nation-wide T-10 Gully cricket’s Season 1 was launched across eight major cities in January 16 this year.
Riteish agreed to lend his name of this new version of the game, only for the sheer love of cricket. "I have played gully cricket with my friends through my entire childhood as well as at my school, GD Somani, inter college for Jayant’s College and charity events for the film industry and Cancer Patients Association. So when Anup Wadhwan approached me, I immediately agreed.
He continues, "Apart for my love of cricket, I like the fact that T-10 gully cricket gives people across India and smaller towns, especially all youngsters an opportunity to play cricket at the top level. It also prevents cricketers who have played at the state or national level from participating at the T-10 gully cricket." whatever he earns from this association, will be given away to charity.
Any city and town can enroll to participate in this game. Cricketers like Sandeep Patil will test and select teams for their city and all matches will be shown on the DD Sports channel. Riteish’s work as brand ambassador will entail travelling to some of the cities and towns where the matches will be held. Ritiesh adds, "When I have time, I may even play in a few. It’s the first time I am endorsing something and that too it’s not a product but a cause. I didn’t products earlier as I wasn’t ready for them. But now I am definitely looking at endorsements.
