Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit has become the latest star on the social networking scene by creating an account on Twitter which has already garnered 12,297 followers.
"For all of my fans, finally I have joined Twitter. Love, Madhuri," she wrote as her first post on the micro-blogging site on November 27.
Ever since the 43-year-old actress has come to India to host a TV dance show, she has been repeatedly questioned what was keeping her away from sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
"People everywhere are asking me this. I have first removed all the false accounts pretending to be me from the networking sites," she had said.
When asked which former co-stars she would like to keep in touch with, Madhuri said, "When I come onto Twitter or Facebook, I am going to keep in touch with all of them." And herfriends in B-town did give Madhuri a overwhelming welcome.
"People!!!! Let’s welcome the one n only @MadhuriDixit1 !! Twitter just turned BEAUTIFUL. Welcome mam! Love n respect!(sic)" wrote superstar Hrithik Roshan.
Actress Dia Mirza wrote, "I’m an ardent admirer of this lady! Her smile says to hell with darkness, I bring light! Madhuri Dixit! Big SHOUTOUT”.

Asian-American filmmaker Krishna Shah is set to make a biopic on Indira Gandhi and has roped in Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit to play the role of India’s first and only woman prime minister.

Titled “Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story”, the film was announced on the late prime minister’s 92nd birth anniversary Thursday. The pre-production of the film has already been done. It will go on floors in mid 2010 and be shot in India, Britain, US and Russia.

“I have followed Indira Gandhi’s life through media, books and critics. It’s such an exciting and dramatic story. I want the future generation to know her story. A whole new generation has grown and matured since her assassination and through this film I hope to connect people with their history and legacy,” Shah said in a press release.

Apart from Madhuri, Bollywood actors Dharmendra, Abhay Deol and Nana Patekar have been approached to play Motilal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi and Jayaprakash Narayan respectively.

Hollywood star Tom Hanks is likely to be a part of the film as former US president Lyndon Baines Johnson. Tommy Lee Jones is also being approached for a pivotal role in the film.

“Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story” will be made in two parts.

While the first part will unfold the story from her birth to her emergence as “Maa Durga” (goddess of War) after her victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war, the second instalment will cover her political journey from the rise of her son Sanjay Gandhi to her assassination in 1984, Shah said.

Shah has been doing research for the project since two decades. He has read books on her, interviewed politicians, journalists, bureaucrats, writers, military men and her contemporaries to dig information.

If things work out well then Bollywood’s two dancing divas Madhuri Dixit Nene and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen judging a dance reality show. The TV channel is in talks with the actresses. However this will happen only if their dates match. Madhuri who is coming on or off to India, may accept the offer. If this happens, we will see the actresses together once again after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas.

This Indian Cinema spectacle brings together the greatest icons of Indian Cinema: Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh and the music director duo Vishal-Shekhar in a spectacular production.

Adding to the grandeur, the show just got bigger with the ‘Dancing Queen’, Madhuri Dixit joining the U.S. leg. On her association with the tour, Madhuri said, “I am very excited to be associated with the Unforgettable Tour. There have been attempts in the past to bring Mr. Bachchan and me together onstage, but it didn’t materialize. Now through the Unforgettable and Wizcraft, I will have the pleasure of performing with him, Aishwarya and Abhishek on the same stage. I am really excited about reaching out to my fans.”
