There have been too many speculations around Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. We’ve reached a point where it is difficult to differentiate between rumors and authentic news. We hear Madhu Mantena has backed out as a producer as the budget increases while competing with biggies like Brahmastra and Oppenheimer. Below are all the latest updates about Ranbir Kapoor led film.

Although there has been no official announcement yet, Ramayan reportedly stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Vijay Sethupathi, KGF star Yash, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutt, Rakul Preet Singh, and Arun Govil are among others who have been approached for pivotal roles in the film.

Ramayana to compete with Oppenheimer & Brahmastra’s VFX?

Multiple sources claim Ramayana is mounted on a staggering budget of 500 crores. It will be one of the most expensive films made in India. Nitesh Tiwari and team are going to deliver a visual spectacle that is going to have a pitch-perfect cast and Oppenheimer-level VFX. There are also reports that the film will be competing and leaving behind Ranbir Kapoor’s own Brahmastra in terms of special effects.

There was negativity around Ramayana when rumors claimed the project had been delayed due to internal issues. A recent report by Hindustan Times now claims Madhu Mantena has backed out as a producer due to budgeting issues. He had to step down due to monetary concerns as he is “not financially compatible right now.”

Ramayana producers replaced?

The report further claims that DNEG, who previously did the VFX for Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone led Fighter, are now onboard. A source close to the development added, “Inhone itni badi films ka VFX sambhaala hai, jaise Oppenheimer, them joining has raised the stakes for Ramayana. Brahmastra se bhi badiya visual effects expected hain ab.”

However, DNEG will only be taking care of about 20-30% of the total budget. It is now to be seen how Nitesh Tiwari and the team managed to mount the film on a whopping 500 crore budget. As of now, Ranbir Kapoor has started his prep and will soon go on floors. The sudden change in producers does sound concerning, but with the replacement, it looks like the makers have everything under control.

About the Ramayana release date

Ramayana announcement was expected to come out on the occasion of Ram Navami, but the rumor was later debunked. There has been no official update but the film is expected to release somewhere around 2025.
